Steve Alford appointed as Coach of Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado (UCLA) on Saturday

UCLA appointed a new Coach for their team. According the Official Website of UCLA Steve Alford is now the new coach of UCLA team; he is replaced with the Ben Howland. The former Coach Howland served the UCLA and brought the team at good level. The team of UCLA reached in final consecutively three times from 2006 to 2008 with coaching of Ben Howland, but in the month of March UCLA was upset opponents in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.

Steve Alford 48 years of Age was born in Franklin Indiana who has been excellent during his career all the time as a basketball player. Alford has been playing for Indiana Hoosiers Basketball team under Bob Knight.  Alford was just 19 years of age when he was selected for US basketball team to play in Olympics in 1984. He was top ten NCAA basketball players in December 1989.  Alford went 133-52 in the Six Season while coached the team of New Mexico, leads the Lobos with 29 wins in 2012-13 which is most win ever in the history.

Accordingly, the Dan Guerrero the Director of UCLA during the press conference said that UCLA contracted with the Alford of about $ 18.2 million including the $200,000 signing bonus.

Decision of Steve Alford to becoming the coach of UCLA made the fans & as well as the players of Mexico basketball team disappointed. On 27 March 2013, Administration of Lobo Club made extension of contract with the Steve Alford for the period of ten years, Alford during the press conference explained that he is going to build best basketball in the country. But about 72 hours later, he decided to serve the UCLA and made contract with the admin of UCLA.

The former president of Lobo Club said that it is really upset for us as the Steve was a wonderful coach to make the team perfect. Athletic Director Paul Kerbs is also frustrated he said it was quite clear when he talked to Alford on Saturday that Alford had made his mind. Moreover he said that he understands and respects the decision made by Steve Alford.
